The Yummiest Cupcakes in Toronto!

Don’t Call Me Cupcake

When I attended Trey Anthony’s all-day Millionaire Artist workshop a few months ago, I was inadvertently introduced to the most scrumptious cupcake I have ever eaten.

It all happened when Trey dismissed us for lunch and I decided to leave the venue to grab something to eat at a local coffee shop.  When I returned to the workshop, I saw that everyone was snacking on cupcakes supplied by one of the vendors – Don’t Call Me CupcakeSince I have a HUGE sweet tooth and it’s incredibly hard for me to say no to something yummy, I decided to buy one as well.  There were only a handful left, so I happily chose the Rum cupcake.

Can I get an amen!  That Rum cupcake was divine!  I love that the rum flavour was present, but not too overpowering.   Actually, it wouldn’t matter if it were too strong—I have Trini blood, so I love anything with rum in it!  Lol!

The cupcake itself was moist, not too sweet and very flavourful.  I can’t really say anything bad about the cupcake except I wish I had another one right now : (

After I finished the cupcake, I made sure to get a business card because I knew that one day I would interview Tova –the Founder of Don’t Call Me Cupcake, for my blog.  Here’s the interview.  Enjoy!

What motivated you to start Don’t Call Me Cupcake?

I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit that I am pretty sure came from my mother. I wanted to start something that I love and that I am passionate about. Starting a bakery came naturally.

What inspired you to create the flavours of the cupcakes?

I’m inspired to make something different and GREAT tasting. There are so many cupcake bakeries however, we are committed to standing out. When people try our cupcakes and treats, I want them to say it’s the best they've ever had.

How did you come up with the catchy name?

My business partner (and friend) and I were brainstorming names and I blurted it out...as soon as it came out we both were like "that's the name." After tasting the rum cupcake, one of our customers gave us the tag line "Don't Call Me Cupcake....we're better than that!" Maybe one day we will use it.

What was the process like in creating the perfect cupcake?

Many trial and error sessions.  Many friends and family as tasters—which  are never hard to find. Many tweaks and finally you have the perfect cupcake.

What are your specialties?

Right now we make rum and liquor cupcakes (our specialty), traditional flavour cupcakes, cheese cakes, cookies and other desserts. We specialize in single serving sizes.

Where can we purchase your cupcakes?

Right now we cater by order only (store front will come soon).  You can order by calling 647-760-DCMC (3262) or email orders@dontcallmecupcake.com

Did you ever watch the TV show Cupcake Wars? What did you think of the show?

I don't watch much TV but I have seen cupcake wars a few times. From what I've seen it's a great show! The unconventional ingredients and challenges really make the contestants step up and get their creative juices flowing.

Thanks for the interview, Tova!
